SC,
Back in those days it was real wild ! A bunch of us that spotted Salmon, stayed down at Bartletts in Eggigik, a young bear was hanging around making a nuisance of himself, someone called
On the marine radio, and says the bear just chased a kid
Down the beach. Old Laure Bartlett jumps up grabs his old
375 H&H, and walks out saying thats it. He rides down onto the beach on a 3 wheeler, and we hear BOOM. Then back he comes
Gets onto his Cat front end loader, goes down scoops up
The bear, brings it up to the airstrip and buries it. Comes back into the dining room and says "he wont be bothering
Anyone anymore". Someone then asked, how many have you burried there over the years, he said " Dozens and dozens" then he and Helen burst out laughing!
It was never mentioned again......... That was the way life was in the early 80's. Wild n Wooly!
