Well I got a email back from Korth's here in Canada advising me that any work that has to be done on the VX6 scope has to be done in the states and they would send it for me. However this part is a little confusing  I was told that changing the reticle to a Windplex would be quite expensive as they have to charge shipping & exporting hmmm if the scope is down there to repair the selector ring why would it need extra shipping and a exporting permit. I sent a email back asking that question so I will let you know what they say.
This warranty stuff is getting to be quite the pain as I have to jump through a lot of hoops on my Leica 1600B as well. I thought that making it as easy as possible for the customer would be good customer service.

Blessings,
Dan

My experience in the past has revealed that correspondence with Leupold presents a different picture from correspondence with Korth. I believe you had some of that with the CDS, Dan. Korth was giving you a bit of a run-around, as I recall.

what VX-6 do you have ? I'm going to get a 2-12 for my tikka deer hunting rifle , I'm just not sure on the reticle yet . I'm really leaning towards a lighted ret.

I just had my first Leupold repair experience . I'd say Leupold is a good company . I sent 2 scopes back . Leupold signed for them up on December 23 . I got one back Feb 2 and the other arrived Feb 3 . I'm sure they had a few days to a week off for the Christmas and new years holidays , so I felt this was a very reasonable amount of time . the scopes seem to be repaired , time will tell on this . so I'm a very happy camper . hope this works out for you .

Jim,

There is no question but that Leupold's warranty is superb. The problem for those living north of the border is that communicating directly with Leupold can be dicey ever since 9-11. The VX6 is a great product (I have three, both illuminated and unilluminated reticles). They compare favourably to many high-end scopes.

Jim I have the 2-12X42mm in the duplex reticle would like the Windplex.
DrMike, I did get some hassle regarding CDS but after Leupold sent them a email everything was fine.
I am going to wait to hear back from Korth to see what they have to say. I may then again go directly to Leupold if there is still some confusion.

Blessings,
Dan

Dan,

Get the work order number and talk directly to the Leupold Customer Service team.
The illuminated Windplex reticle is superb and it shouldn't be too much more to add on.

Thanks JD, I will have to wait until I hear from the Canadian depot to see how it gets to the US. The Home Land Security Act is very strict on things like this. I was advised that if they deem I am attempting to smuggle the scope in or out of the US they can ban me from entring the US.

Blessings,
Dan

thanks for the info fellas . I hope this gets taken care of without a big hassle . I just thought since you already owned it, it wouldn't be a problem shipping it for repair .

Homeland Security has created a major headache for Canadians who wish to engage in the shooting sports, especially if anything we might use transits through the United States. This is astonishing to me in that the southern border appears so porous and the administration is inviting in thousands of "refugees" (No, they are not all women and children, perhaps not even the majority qualify as such) and yet, Canadians are seen as the enemy. SMH!

Hope this isn't too inappropriate, but Canadians don't scream "Racism!" like some people of other nationalities.

Unfortunately it is not going to get any better with our new Prime Minister being a yes man. He truly believes he can be everyone's friend and it this world that is very dangerous.
I am definitely not a socialist but if it is true that Trump doesn't want Canadians in the US that could cause some big troubles in its own right.
This border issue that has developed since 9-11 has really put a kink in Canucks getting any kind of shooting supplies :(.

Blessings,
Dan

I received a email back from Korth's here in Canada and they advised me that it will likely cost me around $400.00 to get the reticle changed in my VX6 so for that kind of money I will have to leave it alone.
Korth stated they will send my scope down to the plant in the states for the necessary repairs to selector dial. Once it is down at the factory I will get necessary numbers and see if they will give me a bit of a break on installing a Windplex reticle. If it is down there for 1 repair why would it cost for a second bit of work to be done. I will pay for the reticle but I don't understand why there would added costs for shipping & exporting?
I will be starting this procedure this weekend with mailing it off to Korth's.

Blessings,
Dan

Last I heard it was about 100.00 USD to change a reticle. I would call Leupold direct to find out what they would charge since it will be there already for warranty work. I would play like I was from the states just to see if the other outfit is taking advantage of you.

Dan,

Did you hear anything back from Leupold yet?
The WindPlex reticle is pretty nice. I have the Illuminated Fire Dot WindPlex reticle like this.

JD, I have not heard back from Leupold yet. I will be sending my scope to Canadian depot on This coming Monday.
Will let you know when I hear something.

Blessings,
Dan

Nothing like procrastinating  . Well I finally sent my scope in and it has made it way down to the US plant. They emailed me late yesterday and today I thanked them for getting back to me, I have now requested a estimate on what the cost would be to install the Wind-Plex in the Illuminated Fire Dot Reticle. I am looking forward to hearing back from them.

Blessings,
Dan

Well I got a email back from Leupold and was a little shocked when I got the quote on changing to the Fire dot Wind-plex. They advised $300.00 US for the change  I have to decide this week if I am going to give the go ahead.
Just wondering if it is worth it what do you all think?

Blessings,
Dan

Just letting you know that having the Wind-plex Fire-dot reticle installed has been nixed unfortunately just too expensive at this time .

Blessings,
Dan

I received a email from Leupold advising that they had to replace the Erector System on my VX6 and they have sent it back to Korth so I hope that I receive it sometime in the next few days.
The gal I dealt with was very pleasant.
They were very courteous and had it done quickly. I am very happy with the customer service from the factory.

Blessings,
Dan

$300 U.S. for the change is a lot of money Dan. I would have done the same as you and not had it changed either. I wonder if you could sell the scope you have and get the one you want used for similar money? Buying used Leupold scopes is pretty safe since they have such a good warranty.
