Yes. The key word is "RECOIL". When you can get .300 Winchester Magnum wind drift on .308 recoil (or less), the choice tends to push people towards lighter calibers. I think maybe that falls under the category of "
grass is always greener".......... IMO, the 6.5 x .284 is a fine cartridge, though. A long time ago, I had a closet love affair with 6.5 x 06, and 6.5 x .284 is ballistically mighty close to 6.5 x 06.
