wood stock installation problem

I recently picked up a stock for my wife's Savage 11 LH .308. It's a Richards microfit factory second. This one was listed as minor, correctable inletting defect and priced to move. Bought it as-is so it's my problem now. The minor defect was the action was inletted for RH trigger/sear orientation. That part is already fixed with some minor dremel work.

Bigger problem I encountered was the front action screw that mounts behind the recoil lug was drilled in the long action location, aprox. 1/4" forward of the correct location for this rifle. I have some ideas on how to correct this, but thought I'd throw it out for folks who have been here before. Basically have the same problem as an excessively ovaled action screw hole. My thought was to drill out a 3/4" hole through and through, plug with rosewood to match the tip and cap, epoxy in place with an epoxy/glass bedding on the barrel channel and re-drill the hole in the correct location. Thoughts, opinions?

I like your idea of drilling it out and plugging with the rosewood. I would do the pillars and bedding after that to give yourself a stronger platform to secure the action to the stock.

I agree with the pillar. Rock solid and will not move.
