    Anybody in the far North

Alaska, Canada, or even lower 48 that hunts with the 348 and uses the Hornady 200 gr FP running low? Just curious.

    Tough hunting season but thankful.

Deer sightings were few and far between. They just disappeared around here for whatever reason. Wasn't seeing them in the fields in the evenings in the area and even when crops were cut in the beginning and during the rut, zero activity. Some guys think a batch of coyotes has them run out of the...

    Factory Ammo.

What are you guys seeing in your area? I was in a LGS today and was honestly surprised at the amount of ammo. Either fully stocked or very close to it, and priced very well considering. Federal blue box, Remington Core Lokt and Winchester ammo in common cartridges like 30-30, 243, 7mm-08, 308...

Older eyes are still hanging on.

This load shot well in my Sauer so tried it in my 7600. Shot it 3 different times. Once with the factory sights, that put 3 at around 1 3/8", and 4 shot was just over 1.75" at 100 yds. Was actually happy enough with that because the factory sights were blurry for me. Got a Skinner Lo-Pro...

    Brass weight variance.

So recently I loaded up 4 boxes of 7mm-08 for a buddy with a load that's been tested extensively to be good across several of their rifles. After doing so I decided to check the brass weight on fired cases since he recently bought a batch of PPU brass. I was shocked that the PPU weighed 13...

    'Merica'

Dang right. 4.8 Million views in 3 days from an artist nobody ever heard of before now. Shot up to #1 on itunes. They think we are asleep. We are wide awake and stirred up. 1 comment states this is not a song but an anthem. I agree. An anthem for all those who voted against what we knew was...

    Not a bad reduced load.

Done some testing with the fast IMR 4198 powder in my 35 Whelen and the Speer 180. Seated to the cannelure gave me an OAL of 3.070. 43 gr's was the winner on accuracy at slightly under 3/4". Might be a dandy reduced load. Both report and recoil is mild. Very mild for a Whelen. Upper...

    Alternative to 4064.

Getting low on IMR 4064 and I don't feel like paying $46-$48 a lb when I find it. I got a lot of H4895 so thought I'd try it in my Sauer as an alternative to 52 gr of 4064 with a 150 gr bullet. Already know what seating depth that rifle likes with the 150 Sierra PH so just loaded up 3 sets of...

    Another crappy 30-06.

JC Higgins M50. Had 1 of these some time back and sold it. Had a couple other projects going on at the time and the few times I shot it, it didn't shoot that great so I moved it on. This one was a different animal. Much nicer stock, and compared to the previous M50 plus a same action FN...

What are you all paying for SR primers?

I keep a couple packs around for loading a buddies 17 hornet, but I don't personally have anything right now that would take SR primers, but never know I could run across a 223 I like and I wouldn't mind getting a 17 Hornet myself, I just have yet to run across 1 local. LGS called they have SR...

    Tikka 7-08

Got a buddies Tikka here to load up for. New rifle with probably a $1000-$1200 scope on it. This should've been an easy project, 2 things that should be easy to get to shoot, a Tikka, and the 7mm-08 cartridge, put them together and it should be like cruise control. Was expecting to be able to...

    Been doing some shooting.

A mix of different rifles but always include a load I'm working on with the Sauer. It shot Hornady 165's 1/2" on the button with both IMR 4064 & 4350. Moved onto 150's and the easiest thing at the time was just to load up 3 each of a variety of bullets at a set charge and distance off the...

    Sale at Optics Planet

On a lot of stuff it looks like, but what interested me and what I'm passing along is their sale on 30 caliber 150 gr Sierra Pro Hunters. $25 a box and free shipping. I got a good stash of them at that, and if you apply for email sign up and apply that coupon you get another 9% off your order...

    Midway has Speer .358

The 250 gr Hot Cor's. Factory overrun. $31 per box of 100. Smoking deal really. I'd buy some but I've no clue what or when I'd need 250 grainers for. I know some guys on here have used them for heavy game. They're there if you need em. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/101836188?pid=825264

    Powder is coming down.

Woo Hoo! Finally things are showing real signs of catching up, at least on the powder front. Shop here has things such as 8 lbs of staball 6.5 for $259. 8lbs of CFE 223 for $241. 8lbs of H335 for $238. 8lbs of BLC-2 for $238. 8lbs of Hybrid 100V which I haven't seen in forever for $236...

    Sauer with 4350.

Loaded 57-58 gr's with the same Hornady 165's and the same .040 off that I used with 51.5 gr's of IMR 4064. They couldn't be much more identical. 57.5 gr's shot the best. I'm only measuring with calibers not those computer generated programs, but I'm getting the same .800 outside measurement...

    Done some more Sauer testing.

Using the keeping the same seating depth method of testing. Used the .040 off that shot in the 2's with a starting load of 48 gr's IMR 4064. Made some slight scope adjustments and went right to 49.5 & 50.5 just looking at speeds and pressure. It put those 2 shots side by side within 3/8" and...

    Rifle's with a fat chamber.

My Rem 788 308 seems like it might have a slightly oversized chamber. I had around 15 or so once fired factory 308 cases that I used in my initial testing with it. All through them now and when I go to resize it's a tight squeeze. Just bumping the shoulder .002 still makes the brass grow...

    Shot my Sauer 101.

Got that Burris scope I just got mounted up on it, got it on paper close, and worked on a new load. Went with Jimbires method.........use a starting load and work on seating depth first. This rifle shot 165 Speer BTSP's with 57gr IMR 4350 outstanding the very first time I shot it. It's been...
