OK, after looking at other pics of other trophy muleys, I've come to the conclusion that I can't judge deer without ears. :) Great deer, thanks for the pic.
I'm not trying to be a spoilsport, but I'd like to see the scoresheet. I have a hard time thinking that deer is over 200". I've been wrong before. It's just that when I focus on the deer and not the hunter, and compare length of points to how long the head is, I don't see the length needed to...
I use 71 grns. of Magpro w/federal 215 GM primers. 3300+ fps and sub 1/2" groups. Tried the Winchesters primers and got a little more velocity but groups opened up to 3/4"-1".
I was getting over 3400 FPS w/130 grn. Partitions and 74 grns. of Magpro. Switched to 140 grn. Accubond and 71 grns. of Magpro and still over 3300 FPS. Both loads group 1/2" or better.
Just got back from my weekend hunting trip for elk. I shoot a 180 grn. Accubond at 3146 out of a 300 Win. mag. Shot a huge cow at 356 yds. and broke both shoulders and the bullet passed completely through. Cow dropped on the spot. Won't be changing bullets anytime soon. Also shoot the 140's...
I'm shooting 180 grn. Accubond out of a 300 Win. Mag at 3146 fps. at the muzzle. I shot a large mule deer buck at 456 yds. last year and it had a large hole through the shoulders, but dropped at the shot. This year I killed a muley doe under a 100 yds. and another large hole through the...
I've used it exclusively in my 300 Win. Mag for about 5 yrs. Never saw the velocity go up or down because of temperature except once. But, that was a lot # that was recalled and they replace it for free and everything has been fine since. Tried H4831sc and couldn't get the velocity or...
Used 180 grn. Accubond out of 300 winnie to take a nice mule deer buck at 452 yds. last year. MV was 3148 fps. Hit deer in shoulder leaving much devastation and kept going. Deer dropped in its tracks. Shoots under 1/2" in my gun. Very impressed. Hope to try on elk this year.
Please don't change a thing with the 180 accubond. If people don't like them there's other choices out there. If people believe the interbond is so great, go on and use them. I tried them in my 270 wsm last year and will never use them again.
Thanks for the reply. That is exactly what I wanted to know. I have 180 accubonds loaded up now that I'm anxious to try on deer and elk. Awesome site!!
I read on another forum that the 180 grain 30 cal ballistic tips have been redesigned. Now they are supposed to be thicker in the jacket like the 338 and up. Is this true?
