Bruce,
Congratulations on your wheel gun deer.
It is quite the accomplishment.

Congrats everyone! Some good success so far this yr by some. I've been relegated to a dink 5 point buck so far this yr, but happy enough to get him.

Sue and I doubled up last night with a couple of bucks. I'm calling this the "Broken Hearts Hunt".
Sue got her 6 pt at 130 yards with her Nosler M48 Mountain Carbon 30 Nosler with a 180 gr AB, DRT. I shot an 8 pt at 230 yards with my 338 RUM and a 250 gr AB. He went about 50 yards. Both were heart shots.

You 2 are stacking them up Jim! Good deal. I might have to travel to Michigan and buy some venison off of you the way my yr is going. Ha.

Congratulations, Bruce. I'd love to have hunted with a wheel gun, but here in the socialist paradise of the north, we have a guvmint that is scared of citizens that have a handgun.

Well what the???? Besides protection how is a fella supposed to shoot tin cans, or bird shot rats, mice, and snakes, or practice quick draw McCaw in a cowboy hat???

No seriously, I did not realize you were not allowed to have a pistol. That's something else.

This morning I took my first deer w/ my own reload. 7mm-08. Nosler case, 43g Varget, 140g Partition. Double lunged and nicked the heart at ~115 yards. Gorgeous East TN deer.

Congratulations on your buck and your first deer with handloads. It's a very rewarding feeling when your hand crafted load gives you the desired results. Well done sir. 👍

Another one bites the dust. 200 yard shot with the 8x57 180gr barnes TSX @2780 fps. Dropped on the spot. I believe this buck to be a hybrid Mule/Whitetail. Our local area is known to produce these hybrids with mule deer and whitetails living in the same area. Whitetail features include the tail and ears, the hide color is a blend of mule deer/whitetail, forked mule deer style antlers.

We see a fair number of these in this area. The whitetail are more aggressive during the rut, breeding the mulie does and chasing off the poor mulie bucks. Apparently, the hybrids are sterile, so that means they won't breed to form a new specie.
