This is hunting update from this post

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=31038

I shot 270 and 270 Wby pretty much all summer long. I stuck to my plan on using 270 and 270Wby as back for that buck tag. On 7th day of the hunt I got nice mature 4x5 buck and was about 200yds and I'll see if I can post pictures later. One shot and he dropped in his tracks and not that much damage.

I got a cow elk hunting starting next month and was going to use 30-06 with 150gr E-Tip and I just may use 270.

Good job!! Never be afraid to use the 270 it is a great calibre.
I am looking forward to see a few of your photos.
Good luck on your upcoming Elk hunt, remember have Fun, Shoot straight and most of all be Safe.

Blessings,
Dan

30-338, good work!

Please post pics of your buck and cow elk when you get one! I am a .30-06 slinger from way back so you know what gets my vote (not that it matters anyways, my vote that is) but I have nothing but respect for the .270 as well.

Good luck.

Dale

Dan, Been using 56.5gr/IMR-7828ssc @ 2959fps,Win brass,Fed 210 primers and 270 has 24.5" long Lilja barrel on Rem 78 action.
