Forster Co-ax

Scotty, you shouldnt have an issue, it was redesigned 2002-04 era. It wasnt all Redding Comp dies either, just the Mag case length and longer...

Yours is safe I am sure... Unless its an oldy .... Hee, hee...

Jim I Know you would like it. Just a great piece of gear. I have never met anyone that was disappointed in the CoAx but I have talked to alot who wished they would have bought the Coax when they had the chance.

Yup, I am one of those fellas.

+1 with me as well. I'm using my dad's 30 yr old RCBS press and it is still rocking. While the RCBS is a little inconvenient compared the Co-Ax, maybe I just need to stick with something that works for a change.

Had mine for about 10 years. Had to replace the jaws once, and sometimes the larger mags need some help getting out. Die replacement is a dream, and the press is really quite nice with great pressure.

My press has been shipped, Should be here Friday.
Can't wait.
Thank you everyone.

I have a question:
On my 270WSM dies I really have to crank them down to get them to size all the way.
Almost half turn once I hit the shell holder, Can this also be done with the Co-ax press.

Randy

I use RCBS 270WSM with my COAX Randy and they work fine. Mine bump shoulders about .002" while slighty touching the shellholder. Never had any issues with them like this. If it is a huge problem where you can't get exactly what you want, you could always purchase the Forster FL die. I had to do this with the RCBS 308 Win dies. They would not size the 308 cases far enough. Bought the Forster die and it works great. Scotty

Scotty
I have both the RCBS fl dies and Redding fl bushing dies and they need the same thing.
I think the head space on my 270wizzum must be on the short side.

Randy

I have been using the same 100 cases for quite awhile and sizing them like this has resulted in excellent case life for me, and I don't shoot anything much less than full power loads. I attribute this to the heavy WW cases and the lack of really sizing the crap out of them. Seems to work for me. I imagine you will see right off if they will work. If not, for 30.00 or so, the Forster die will fix you up properly. Scotty

Scotty
I set the shoulder back .001"-.002" like you do.
With my Stoney Point comparator fired cases come out 1.748" and I size them to 1.746"-1.747"
Might have to try the Forster sizing die in the 270WSM, I do like there dies and use them in my 22-250, 308 and 300 Win Mag.
I really like the expander ball up high the way they do.

Randy

Randy,

Buy the Forster dies. You won't regret it. If I reload a cartridge and Forster makes the die, that is the one I prefer.

Yeah, me too Randy, if I had the loot, I would replace all of my sizing dies with Forsters, but since most of them do the trick, I am too cheap to replace what isn't broken! I do like their expander ball up high. Very nice touch. Scotty

This may be a little ghetto/redneck, but can't you just grind a couple of thousandths off of the bottom of the die?

Yes I can and have done that in the past. Either using a lathe or surface grinder.
But I don't do that kind of work any more so it's not as convenient.
We will see when I get the press.

Tried it with the 308 dies BK, didn't work for me. I'm sure it might work in some cases though. Scotty

My press came today
First time I've seen one in person, A lot smaller then I thought.
All I could do was deprime 6 cases, everything else is loaded up :( :(
I was going to go out this weekend but Mr Weatherman says thunder showers and high wind warning.
I'll post an update first chance I really get to use it.

Randy

Randy,

You may have to pick up another rifle just to have an excuse to load something!

I picked up my Winchester Featherweight in 243 last week from the gunsmith, had it pillar bedded.
Put my old Leupold 3.5x-10x-40 on it.
Got the itch to try it out with some 90gr E-tips.
That's what I was going to play with this weekend, everything is ready to go.
Hopefully the weather will cooperate next weekend.

I should rephrase my last post:
Everything I can load has been loaded, I'll have more when I can get some load testing done with my 243

I've been using my Co-Ax for a few months now and love it.
With the small quantities I do the quick change dies are super convenient, no shell holders to play with.
No primer going on the floor.
All my bench rest dies fit with room to spare.
Everybody needs a Co-Ax press.
How did I get along so many years without one???????

Thanks again everyone
Randy
