Forster Co-ax

Randy I'm glad you like it. I really never had a doubt though. I love to use mine. Just a great piece of gear.

Now go and get your 1895 45-70! Gotta populate the states with more of these lever rifles. They are way too fun to not have friends go without! Scotty

I keep looking at the 1895 XLR in 47-70 and keep talking myself out of it.
Where I live, high desert country there is no such this as a close shot.
That's why I'm trying my hand with the 6.5 CM to become a more proficient long range shooter.
My buddy has a 1895 with a brake and that thing is a dream to shoot.....I'll end up with one someday

Randy

Randy, with the right set up you can run the 45-70 out a long way. I would have no issues killing deer at 300 and would push it further if I had the range. I limit to 300 because of my limitations, not the rifles. It will stay MOA or better for me out to 300 at least. Don't pass up an XLR. They would probably be perfect with your open terrain and you can push 300's pretty fast. With a good range finder and some proper optics set up, just as with any LR rifle you will make a big impression on any animal. I know it sounds crazy, a big slow bullet to us shooting far, but they will get there accurately and their momentum will punch through just about anything. Plus they are just darned fun. Think about all of the game killed with the 45-70 shooting slow bullets, they just knew their ranges and made clicks on their sights, just like we do. Don't sell it short. They will impress you I bet. Scotty

You do the 358 Norma mag and I'll do the 45-70
But mine will have to wait until the 6.5 CM is done

You strike a hard bargain but I think you'll like what I have planned Randy. It is a little different than the 358N but still in the same ball park. Scotty

Did you end up going with the 9.3-375 Ruger?

Thats great Randy. I knew you would like it. It is hard to put into words how well it works compared to other great presses, but I will say this, if you use one, it is hard to go back to anything else. I will never load without the Forster again. I should insure it I am so scared to lose it! Scotty
