Hi guys, I bought (100) 260gr Nosler Accubonds for my 375 H&H and have plenty of Norma brass, I'm looking for a good load @ around 2650-2700 fps. What do you recommend?

I'll be using this load for Moose and pretty much everything.
Thanks,
Lou

Lou - for several years I've been using a load recommended by John Barsness. It's also Nosler's starting load for the 260 gr AccuBond:

69 gr RL-15
Federal 215
2620 fps from my 24" Ruger

It's giving me sub MOA accuracy from the Number One. Excellent accuracy. Recoil is no big deal. It still pumps out 4,000 FPE at the muzzle. I've made good hits to a bit past 300 yards in the field as well.

And if you want more zip, it's just the starting load!

Regards, Guy

I was going to suggest RL 15 as well as a good place to start as long as you can find some. Any powder in that burn range up to IMR and H 4350 would be a candidate. You must have gotten yourself a kit of some sort to start loading, good show :)

Hi Gerry, my buddy at the gun shop reloads his own 375 for a long time now, and has all the goodies 8) ..I just bought the bullets and have the norma brass, he's got the RL 15 powder and gonna be using federal 215 mag primers as well. He's gonna cut 1 case and take the measurement with my rifle. They should/well shoot well, and well be used in newfoundland in 6 weeks 8)

I just bought a can of RL15 last week and was wondering what I would ever use it for. I think I'll try it with some 260 Partitions. Not lucky enough to get to go after moose though.
Lou, would you let me know how your combo works for you on paper after you've tried it? I know it's a different bullet but looks like a good place to start.

I well most certainly do that for sure,

Lou

My friend has used the 260 gr Partition in his 375 Ruger on a black bear and it works very well.

Lou, I bet he comes up with a good load pretty quick.

I know too many folks using 250-260 grain bullets with RL15 to not use it. I used RL15 and the 260 PT, same load as Guy, to load for a good friend. I loaded 40 of them. All he ever said was his old M700 375 shoots like a 22-250. He seems to knock over elk real easy with it as well. No idea on the FPS he gets but I'd bet it's real close to what Guy's load is clocking.

Yes me too Gerry :) ..I have a bunch of factory loaded ammo, but Frank and I should have the 260gr Accubonds loaded and all sighted in just in time for the Moose hunt, I'm looking to print them at 2.5" high @100yds, should give me a 225yd zero with this load (70grs RL-15).

 I'm itching to try my older 270 gr Partitions with RL-15...

That should be a great load as well Guy 8)

You guys are getting to be a bad influence on me. I haven't shot my .375 Taylor in years and now you've got me thinking about trying Re15 with the .270 gr. Hornady's I have laying around. It does need a better recoil pad though. Seven and a half pound .375's do set back with a bit of thump. :( It's a rifle you carry a lot and shoot very little.

Wel.... It's hunting season, go shoot something with that bad boy .375 of yours! :)

Bad influence on you? I haven't got a .375 anything. I'm thinking a .375 Ruger will go good with the rest of my Rugers. I have a 77/22, tang safety 243 Ackley, .280 M77 Mark II , and a .338 compact mag...yep, there's a spot for a .375 Ruger guide gun.

Thanks Gerry, we don't have enough RL15, maybe enough for 30 or so rounds, I called every gun shop around, and been out of stock for about 3 months. we're gonna load up the 260gr accubonds over 77grs W760, norma brass and federal 215 match primers. I was thinking of using IMR 4064 (69grs) but should get better accuracy/velocity with the W760. I well post a range report when these baby's are custom rolled for my rifle

Lou

Thanks for your help guys :) ..My 1st batch is all loaded and all ready for the range this weekend.

Norma brass
Federal 215 M primers
75grs Winchester 760
260gr Nosler AccBond
OACL 3.585" with factory crimp

If they shoot as well as I think they well, this well be my load for Newfoundland Moose in 2 more weeks.

Good luck hunting/shooting to all!
Lou

I have another load with IMR 4064, but gonna try these first. RL 15 was my first choice but only had enough for about 30-35 rounds, and it's hard to find right now. Thanks again, Lou :)
