Need some help figuring this one out

Tell you buddy to go find a hobby shop (model trains, rc cars, etc.) and buy some styrene strips of the proper thickness. I might get something in 1/32 or 1/16 and play around with the amount of forend pressure. Once he finds the sweet spot, he should epoxy these in place with some marine grade epoxy (or anything water and oil resistant). Once he gets them in place (using the barrel coated with floor wax as a 'mold' until things are dry), he should come back with a needle file and remove the material from the bottom of the barrel channel, leaving a left and right pad in the channel with a small space between them. That seems to be the best course for most rifles which need forend pressure, and is easy to do. The best part about the styrene is that it is completely weather and rot proof, and it also is pretty consistent in it's thickness, so he can be accurate with what he's doing.
