If you only had 1 load or one bullet for all North American hunting what would it be?

What is load?
Velocity
accuracy?

Most likely it would be the cast 420 gr. in the middle here. Loaded to 1600 fps with 42 grs. of RL-7. While not a tack driver, it gives me 3 moa at 150 yds. offhand. It and the 405 gr. I cast also, shoot about the same. If needed, I can bump the velocity up with 50 grs. of Benchmark to 1800 fps. Honestly, that is more than I really care for in the recoil. However, in the field, I don't know that recoil is a factor. Just not much fun from the bench, which is why I shoot it mostly offhand or off stix.
And that range is all I require of it.

Fotis,

I have a small stash of .458 cal 300 gr PT's for my 45-70.
My load is 60.0 grs H322 R-P case and Federal GM210M primer for 2250 fps and sub MOA accuracy.

Plenty of power and penetration for anything I would hunt in NA.

Yeah, I am with Dave and Jim there. Cast, it would be Dave's 405 cast with 40 grains of RL7 for 1600 FPS and for jacketed, a 300 grain PT with RL7 at 2200...

One load...

Torn between these:

425 gr Beartooth "Piledriver Junior" over H322 for 1950 fps. That's a thumper.

or

350 gr Swift A-Frame over H4198 for 2050 fps. Can substitute the FNSP Hornady for a less expensive practice load - which is also a dandy bullet for most game from what I've heard. I just like the way the Swift hangs together better. The Hornady would likely do for anything, even the great bears, but that Swift is real impressive.

Of course a guy could just call up Randy Garrett and get a case of his exceptional .45/70 ammo and be set for life too. Though I see they're closed right now.

That 350 A-frame is the heat man!

They would be a killer bullet. I traded a box of them for some Starline brass. I still have a box of 350 Northforks to try. Might give them a whirl if I dork around with the rifle anymore this Fall.

I have been loading a 350 Hard Cast from MBW. Seems to shoot well, but I haven't mounted a scope as yet. Thats one of my winter projects. Then I will be able to tell alot more about whats going on. !
