Well, after owning this rifle for a couple of years now, I finally got her fully dressed. I love the heft of this rifle, and the 375 bore. This one will certainly put a thumping on any animal in the world.
I’m attaching photos for all to see.
Now, all I need to do is scrounge up some ammo or components to load my own ammo.

Midway has some 375 cal bullets in seconds right now.

The 375 Ruger always delivered some excellent accuracy when I developed loads for others. I always though it would make a fine rifle to carry in the bush here in northern BC. I didn't follow through on my inclination, however, opting for some other bigger cartridges.

I've bought seconds from Midway in the past and am not a fan. They are not the quality that you get from Nosler. I have the following Midway factory seconds available if someone wants to make me an offer:
2 boxes of 100, 25 caliber 117 grain SP
2 boxes of 50, 338 caliber 215 grain SP
2 boxes of 50, 35 caliber 225 grain SP
I do shoot Midway's factory seconds in .284 diameter 154 grain tipped SP, but these are from a different manufacturer.

Hawk,
The 375 is pretty versatile. I have a Nosler M21 in 375 H&H Mag with a Leupold VX-5HD 2-10x42mm FireDot reticle. I have shot this rig out to 600 yards and used it on WT deer with great success. I shot a couple of crop damage deer at 150 yards, knocked them right off their feet.
Nosler occasionally has seconds and I'm stocked up on 260 gr AB, E-Tip and 300 gr AB seconds.
I also am impressed with the Sierra 250 gr SBT.
This is a very robust bullet and will handle 378 Wby speeds making it ideal for you 375 Ruger.

I can imagine there are some very big bruins in your neck of the woods Dr. Mike. I can see where larger caliber could be more advantageous in this matter.

This is the kind of testimony I like to see. Coming from first hand experience. Thank you for imparting your knowledge, especially about the bullets. Greatly appreciated!

It can be with high BC bullets. I was shooting the 260 E-Tip at 2725 fps and hit gongs at 400 and 600 yards simply by dialing MOA from a JBM Ballistics drop chart. FWIW, I made first round hits. The 150 yard deer kills were with the Barnes 250 TTSX at 2800 fps which is another great bullet.

There are some big bruins around here. But truthfully, a 30-06 that a shooter can handle will work better than a 7.82 Warbird that they can't handle. I have a 358 Norma Magnum, a 9.3X64, and an 8X68 that will handle about anything I might meet. They don't kill any deader than a good .308 or a .358 Win. In an emergency, a 260 Rem is better than a stick in the eye. Having said that, I do like the 375 Ruger, or the 375 H&H just because they are fun rounds with a reputation for accuracy.

man, that's a whole lot of thump!

There's a used 375 R at a local pawn shop, a Mossberg Patriot. It's been collecting dust for a while. I think it's $325 with a cheap Bushnell scope and leather sling. I've been tempted to bring it home a time or two.
Howie,
You should just do it! The 375 Ruger, as well as the 375 H&H Mag, would make for a hog hammer. Grab some Sierra 250 gr SBT Game Kings and slay some bacon. 😉

When I had my 375 Ruger Big Game worked so well with 260-300 gr bullets that I didn't try much else. The Sierra 250 gr and mono bullets of 250-260 gr is where I would look first. Of course if you can find them the 260 gr AccuBond it's a great bullet. Took my grizzly and some black bears with that load. Enjoy your 375!
