I found a WW2 1911A1 made by Remington Rand. It's been reblued and hasn't got the original grips. It's got pachmar's on it. The guy wants $500 Cad. Is that a good deal or just ok?? It`s online, I can`t handle it, BTW.

Here's what the Blue Book says.
Aproximately 1,086,624 manufactured fron '43 to 45' in Syracuse, Ny.
Remington Rand corp is not a true Remington product.
100%.....98%.....95%...90%....80%...70%....60%....50%....40%....30%
1400......1200.....900.....700.....600....550.....450.....415......375.....350

I would say it's not worth it.
The values above are based on original finish and the pistol in question has none of its original finish or grips.
But..... The heart wants what the heart wants.

I have an orignal Remington-Rand 1911. Dad bought it back in the 60s. It's completely original (8-10lb trigger included) and even have the issued "US" stamped leather holster to go with it. My Mom was offered $800 (US) for it by the sales associate when she was inquiring about a lockable box to put it in to ship it to me.

Also, Remington-Rand at that time was a sewing machine manufacturer and retooled to make 1911s for the war effort (for the younger crowd, that would be World War II).

The fact that it has been re- blued ruins the original value. It is only a shooter and there are better buys out there. For me ,I wouldn't pay it.
