recently i purchased a redding neck die. seems to work great, however, when i tried to load necksized cases in the magazine of my rem 700 300wsm the cases catch on the "race track" the bolt slides on. thinking it was a resizing issue, i tried a case that had already been fired, but not resized...
great rifle. i got one about 2 years ago. it is mounted with a little low profile 3-9. its shoots everything i've run through it pretty good, but the best accuracy i've had is with the big green/yellow bulk pack remington "golden" 40gr loads. solids or hollowpoints (36g i think) both hit to the...
h4350 and h414 work best for me with barnes ttsx. h414 and imr4831 work best with the nosler accubonds in my rifle. magnum primers on all, except standard primers with imr4831.
had a lot of ups and downs with my rem 700 but these are what works for me:
165 speer hotcor, H4350, win cases, win mag primer
165 barnes ttsx, H4350 and H414, win cases, win mag primer
165 nosler accubond, H414, win cases, win mag primer
165 nosler accubond, IMR4831, winc cases, win standard...
i've ran across a good deal on a 26" .280 barrel for my t/c encore. i'm wondering what kind of velocities are possible with 140s, 150s and 160s? seems like from looking at load data that the .280 shoots no faster then the 270.
i'm using winchester primers. i use them in everything i load for, but the 300wsm is the only cartridge that they get this loose. i took my bolt out and looked at it. sure enough, there was a little black ring where gas blow back has been occuring.
i have been shooting a 300wsm and have some cases with 5-6 firings that have loose primer pockets. primers still seat in the cases, but go in with little if any resistance. using a caliper i measured the primer pockets and the pockets are still about .005' smaller than the diameter of the...
found what appears to be a good shooting combo in my rem 700 finally.
h414
win mag primer
win case
165 accubond
wondering if anyone else has had luck with this powder? think i need to back off the load .5-1.0grains though as i appear to be over the recommended max based on nosler data. no...
i have a rem 700 i've had a lot of problems with. finally have gotten it to come around and it seems IMR4831 and H414 produce the best accuracy, with h414 edging out imr4831 on velocity too a little. imr4831 seems to work best with standard rifle primers. i use magnum primers with h414
my ruger 77 25/06 likes the combo of h4350, winchester brass, winchester large rifle primers and nosler 110 accubonds. 3150fps is the norm, with groups in the .25-.75" range. imr4831 gets a little more speed, with groups around .75-1.0. h4831 has always been great for me with 120gr. Hornadys too.
