2016 Hunting Pictures

Charlie leave it to Dr Mike to miss that you had a whole front leg and not just a hoof. But I must say it is or was a nice buck even if the howitzer you were using blew the rest of it away.  (y)

Yeah, the eyes are going, Rodger. Reckon he can gnaw on the bone or make a soup out of it (if he has some veggies, and if he has some meat to add to it, and it...).

I shot this MI UP 8 point buck on 11/18 with the 257 Roberts and a 117 gr PT.

Excellent, Jim! That is a fine, large-bodied buck, to be sure. Congratulations.

The MI DNR aged him at 3.5 years.

My daughter Danielle was able to enjoy the MI archery season this year, her first time. She used my Matthews xbow and scored on a fine little 6 point buck with a perfect shot at 40 yards. Unfortunately, he broke off one side of his rack. I was honored to be with her when she shot her first archery buck.

That is super, Jim. Congratulations to Danielle and to her guide! Man, one has to be excited to see someone sharing their first buck with a new system. Good show!

JD , your red dead slead looks a little easier to use than my black one . congrats to your daughter .

Thanks fellas. Yes, I am very proud of Danielle and look forward to hunting with her every year.
We still have a couple weeks left and she is looking to fill her second tag with a big buck. Stay tuned.

Thanks for sharing Jim and congrats to you and your daughter. The little 257 is perfect for white tails. I had mine built with a 1-12" twist for varmint hunting and the heaviest bullet it will stabilize is a 115gr Hornady round nose but it has killed a few deer.

Congratulations! Looking forward to hearing the story of the hunt. You were in north central KS, weren't you?

Well more NEastern out of the little village of Aurora!
Saw some massive deer on private leases, huge racks, older bucks that have reached their full potential, unfortunately out of my pay grade.............$4200 for 160 class deer up to $8000 for the top of the line.....
Fun to look at them just before dark, best racks you could imagine, just not for this cowboy!

Hard to imagine paying those sorts of prices for the deer. That is definitely in line with moose here in BC and even beginning to move toward the cost of a grizzly hunt!
