2017 Hunting Pictures

Well, he's easily a legal three-point. I don't usually mess around looking for bigger bucks on public land here in Washington. He was the first legal buck I saw yesterday, so he met the 25-06 and the meat is cooling now.

I still have a doe tag. Saw a lot of deer in the area, so I'll likely be back there with my doe tag, and with my youngest son as well. He's got a buck tag. Wish he'd been with me yesterday, opening day, but he had to work.

I wouldn't have passed on him either, I actually think that is a pretty good public land buck in Washington.

I see a fine buck in the photo, Guy. I should imagine that most people would consider him an excellent specimen, and many would think of him as a trophy.

I hunted moose in Newfoundland again this year. We moved around the endless bogs in 8 wheel drive Argos in search of roving bulls. The bulls seemed a little reluctant to respond to the cow calls even though our hunt dates should have put us in the rut.
This bull first appeared on the top of a hill as soon as the calling began. He stood at 315 yds but was not anxious to come closer. In that he was very close to the timber, I decided to take the first good shot I got. The bull was quartering towards me when I sent the 250gr AccuBond his way. The bullet entered right behind his shoulder and exited near the last rib on the opposite side. As the bull took a step towards the treeline I fired again and hit him broadside low in the chest. The bull got 10 yards before disappearing behind the trees. It didn't take me long to cross the bog even though it was laden with standing water, criss-crossed with streams and loaded with mud.
When I got to the point where the bull was last seen I noticed him piled up just another 10 yds away. The first shot was good and the bull was dead on his feet. The second insurance shot really wasn't needed.

Congrats! I've got to draw a moose tag someday...

Guy,
Before I forget, congrats on a few fine animals. Your bear is a most impressive trophy and all of your posted images have added to our enjoyment on this board.

I've put in for a (moose) draw tag in Maine and New Brunswick for more than a decade without a glimmer of hope of receiving one even though I see more moose than bears when hunting there.
If you really want a moose, go to Newfoundland where the tags are provided to outfitters in large numbers. Newfoundland has 160,000 moose and has mainly inhospitable, wet terrain which serves the moose and caribou well.
I've gone there twice with my buddies in the last 3-4 years. We are 100% for seeing moose and about 75% for taking moose. I saw two tremendous bulls this year. One was at 1,100yds and the other at 1,800yds. They both disappeared as we tried to get closer. The Argos are NOISEY and walking is nearly impossible! lol
Interestingly enough, they say that Newfoundland has the only huntable population of woodland caribou in the world. With their numbers declining there too you must obtain one of the few tags through an outfitter. I saw plenty of caribou but only a few good stags. I may return in 2019 for caribou.

Image size maybe, but you're showing us what appears to me, to be a big moose and a BIG gun. :)

What is that cannon you're carrying? And why is the bolt so goofy? :) Looks like it's on the wrong side...
