Thought this was a pretty good read, I like the 257, 270 and 7mm versions the best myself especially the 270 and 7mm. When finances allow again the 1 in 9 twist 277 Benchmark tube I have sitting in the reloading room is going on my magnum action.

Good article. Love the .257 Wby. Ours (an old Mauser converted to .257 Wby mag in Weatherby's old California shop) isn't the most accurate thing in the world, but this may be due to a lot of high velocity rounds put through it by Grandpa, Dad and my Uncle long before I got my paws on it... :grin:

I think I would probably lean more towards a 300 Weatherby more so than any other. I like the Win Mag and WSM, but a properly set up 300 Wby would be a good one for me Gerry. I had a 300 Weatherby once and didn't like the Weatherby stock. So I canned it. Knowing what I know now, I could have probably fixed it up some. Ultimately, I believe I will make up a 300 Weatherby on a Model 70 (Surprised you huh)..

An older friend I mentioned before has had the 300 Wby for years in a Rem 700 Classic, H 4831 and the 180 gr Hornady for over 3100 fps has dropped a lot of game over the years, I bet he has dropped 20 or more moose with it along with some deer, bears and a spectacular caribou. I noticed it kicked a bit more than a 300 Win but not that much though.

Yeah, I think a 300 Weatherby really is nice since you have plenty of case to run 180's and 200's pretty hard without really hammering on it. That is a nice thing.
