This thread is for cartridges that didn’t succeed in the market place for whatever reason (marketing, didn’t fill a void, etc.).

So here we go (in good nature), I’ll start it off w/ten of my own and I’ll keep this list updated (I own two of them):

I have "older" buddies that still use many of the calibers listed above. One ol' geezer wouldn't leave the house without his 218B  . He located 100 case awhile back and is now good to go for ... well, who knows how long!

.257 Roberts
350 Remington mag
243 WSSM
400 Whelen
7 x 61 Sharp & Hart
500 Alaskan
.225 Winchester
.243 Rockchucker
30-338
405 Winchester
Any of the Barnes JB Express Line
Most any of the Ackley Improved Cartridge Line

22RF short (do you mean 22 Short—pretty popular if so—if not please point me in the right direction)

22RF long (do you mean 22 Long—pretty popular if so—if not please point me in the right direction)

14 Calhoon Hornet (couldn’t find anything on this)

22 Squirrel (couldn’t find anything on this)

500 Whelen (nothing on this either except a forum topic on it stating it couldn’t happen using the 06 case)

7mm WSSM (7 WSM)

7.62 Patriot/ War Bird (I have 7.82 Patriot as well as 7.82 War Bird)

45ACP mag (I found 45 Win Mag based on the 45 ACP case)

243 Rockchucker (I believe this is now the 6mm Rem…right?)

Well, I've got a few oddballs:

.375 Winchester
.450 Marlin(absolute tack driver)
8x50 rimmed type 45(2 of them given to me by granddad)
.35Whelen

A couple of great foreign military cartridges I have that are no slouch in the woods:

7x57(2)
8x57

And finally, even though it did take but not like wildfire a .280 Rem. I've often said if the .280 came out on the same day as the .270 and Jack write about it, the .270 might have faded away into one of those cartridges that didn't take.

Yep...I'm an odd duck. I have 7 of the calibers listed. But than, I have never been main-stream or drank marketing's kool-aid. Fortunate thing for most of us, we can load for those calibers no one wants to make ammo for.

Here is one for the list 7X64 Brenneke

I did an edit on my post, you picked up a couple of my errors. I have to more careful posting under the influence of drugs. Thx

I only own 1 rifle chambered for an obsolete round...that round is the .30 Remington...its pretty much just a rimless 30-30...and is the parent case for the 6.8 SPC.

I can think of a few, 30-40 Krag, 30 Thompson 38-55 win, 25-20win 32 special.

Blessings,
Dan
