Moose Opens Monday

DrMike, hope your daughter is doing better. Good thing that you have medical facilities available nearby to help her quickly. They should know by tomorrow if the WBC count goes up. Last time I had something that played out like that, it was a bleeding ulcer, not appendix.

Thanks, Charlie. She is resting more comfortably at the moment. She is pretty determined to drive home to Vancouver tomorrow. I'm equally insistent that she needs to clear up whatever is causing the pain. I question whether it could be an incarcerated bowel or an ovarian torsion, either of which would present as she does w/o an elevated WBC. But then, what do I know. I was only in research and not in the OR, except for rats, mice, cockroaches and rabbits. Nevertheless, we'll see what happens tomorrow.

I was a medical devices, automation engineer and manufacturing director for many years.

Keep us posted on her progress.

Doc,

Just getting caught up here, hope to hear good words about daughter and eventually a nice gut pile..

Rod

Thanks for the pictures Mike; great country up there. Here's to a quick and complete recovery for your daughter.

Rod,

Thanks for the wishes. I didn't go out this morning, and likely won't get out tomorrow. My daughter left this morning, determined to return to Vancouver. She was feeling better and consulting with her sister (a surgeon in MO). WBC is not elevated, but pain is persistent. I'm cautioning two major problems, either of which could readily necessitate surgery. However, so long as the pain is managed, she is able to drive. She just texted us to inform us that she is in Kamloops. We assume she will spend the night there, with a four hour drive tomorrow. In any case, until she is safely home, I'm loathe to go out into the field where I'll be out of cell contact. I will get back out, probably by Friday.

Dr. Mike,
Best wishes for your daughter's quick healing and return to time with Dad.
In the meantime, you may want to train your moose to come a little closer to the truck -- it's fun and really saves on the work after the trigger pull!!!

If Fotis only knew how close this guy is to his house. Isn't happenin'.

For sure, I'd want to train him to hop in the bed of the pickup; it'd surely make life easier!

DrMike, I have had an incarcerated bowel from a hernia and it is very painful. I hope that she is able to drive home without further complications.

We are praying as she drives, and she is keeping us posted with her progress. Her pain and reaction to tenderness suggested this as a possibility to my mind; indeed, the condition is exceptionally painful.

Great picture EE! I wished I could train moose!

Mike, I am hoping your daughter makes it home without too much complication. Scotty

Sorry to hear about your daughter DrMike. Hope she'll get home safe. Looking forward to see the performance of the 7WSM on the big critter. I'm beginning to like this caliber a lot.

Thanks, Scotty. My daughter made it home about 1 this morning. After reaching Kamloops, she was anxious to drive straight through. About 18 hours of driving. Now she can visit the specialists near her home and find out what is going on. I stayed up until I was certain she was home. Obviously, I didn't get out this morning. However, I'll likely be out this evening and tomorrow morning.

Hi Mike, thank you for the update :) praying that the specialist finds the problem and it will be a simply remedy.
As for tonight hope that you have great success and can post a photo of your trophy if not photos are always nice.

Blessings,
Dan

Excellent Mike! Glad to hear she made it home safely. Hope she finds out what is wrong shortly. Scotty

I spoke with her by phone a few hours ago; she seems to be doing well today, though still some tenderness. The intense pain seems to be abating, so I'm guessing we need but to wait to see what develops. In the interim, I'll be out tomorrow morning as my wife will be going down to visit my daughter and grandchildren in a few weeks. I want to be able to send enough meat to fill her freezer. Here, moosey, moosey, moosey! (My moose call; I can't tell you why, but it doesn't seem to work all that well.)

DrMike, glad to hear that she is feeling better. The incarcerated bowel that I had lasted for three days, keeping my head between my knees. The hernia spontaneously let loose finally but it happened again and I had to have surgery to correct it.

Mike you have to call in a higher voice that is the secret
Let know how the evening went.

Blessings,
Dan
