    .375 300gr PT's (Got them!)

I don't know that any I seen or heard of .375's that didn't shoot the 300 PTwell, within it's practical range.

    Which powders would you choose?

RL15/Varget, H4350, RL22, RL25,,,I sure would like to have a 5th, being Benchmark. I just can't do 4 as much as I would like to. Of course I could down size inventory, by going with the .223 and .30-06, and get by with 2 powders. Then H4350 and Benchmark works for me. Those are the only 2...

    Solid 22 under $400

    45-70 VS 450 Marlin

I agree. I also suspect, there are darn few animals that require more. A good choice for all-around Scotty. I bet it'd do just fine a tad slower too.

    .257 Roberts + Partition?

I'm a bit old school perhaps, but when going with smaller calibers, I prefer the heavier bullets. Like JD said the 115's open well even on lighter deer, and also give a bit better penetration if needed. I have had good luck accuracy wise (didn't have a chance for a kill), but still prefered the...

    Bigger than the .35 Whelen?

Give me the 9.3x62, likely AI'd.

    Super Mellow .375 H&H load!

Does look fun, and as you mentioned guy, a practical modest load for deer sized critters. I wonder how many have reached the table by way of the .38-55?. Even my 375JDJ in the lighter Encore is more fun to shoot my 265 gr. cast at 1800-2000 fps rather than 2300fps I can get accurately. In most...

    am i on to something?

Weight retention of the PT and AB are close as I have seen. The AB favors a slightly greater frontal area on terminal performance. To me, it's pick the one that suits the one's range best. But the PT has sevrved me well for years, and at times, pushing it's performance enveloped down range. But...

    Range Day 9.3x74R.

I have had good luck with H-4831SC Charlie. Yeah, one needs to burn more of it, but seems to reduce recoil velocity and impulse some. And yet very accurate all the way up the ladder for me in this Encore tube. I peaked a little quick with the faster powders listed. But then the velocity was...

    Lightweight Wolf/Antelope/Deer - 22-250?

My choice would be the .243 with 55's for the smaller varmints, 70's for wolves, and 100's for deer. But with a broadside or frontal shot, I wouldn't hesitate the 55's on wolves either.

    am i on to something?

At one time I wonder the same about a more streamlined PT/ Deformed tips will affect BC some, no doubt about that. But then most dont hunt with PT's at ranges where the BC difference will make the difference. Deformed tips really don't affect accuracy as much as one would think. The difference...

Practical speeds with 7-08 and 150g Nosler AB LR

I agree that 3000 fps is highly unlikey, and 2800 fps about normal. However, depending on skill and size of animal, I believe the 7-08/150 gr ABLR is capable. With a 1000 ft/lbs at 800 yds. is still well within the design envelope. Just more speed makes for less compensation with trajectory, and...

    Blackpowder Revolver Recommendations

If it is a 1850's which it looks like it very well could be, that'll be worth quite a bit. More if proved to be used in the Civil War. Seen one appraised not long ago, it was appraised at 5-7000 bucks pending auction. It's condition was close to yours. If more of the original finish survived, 10...
