I use them in 6.5x55 and 270 Win. Both produce ammo as good I get with my RCBS, or Redding (not BR) dies in other calibers IMO. BTW I like the "tapered expander" much better then the regular "ball" type. I think it helps reduce drag and keep runout to a minimum.
The problem isn`t going from hot to cold temperature, but from cold/mild to hot in the summer.
Temperature issues are not so apparent when you go from say a 65*-70* F fall day to 20* F or less during season, but in the summer when temps rise to 90* F from 65*-70* the pressures can jump up with...
You won`t see an increase in velocity with a 30-06 sized case by seating out. A straight walled case with a full diameter bullet where seating long increases case capacity at a higher ratio, maybe.
There is a general rule of thumb that a 10% increase in powder capacity gives about a 4% increase...
I`ve bounced between 5.2gr of TiteGroup and 7.8gr of PowerPistol over Fed 205 primers @ 1.215" OAL in my Kimber full size. My use of this bullet has been limited though and I can`t say one load was notably any better then the other.
I`d start with the starting load in what ever manual you have...
From this web site http://kwk.us/ibsw.html
Pressure averages from QL are very close to what your rifle will produce on average but, there are swings in pressures and the pressures reported in manuals, web sites and QL are only "averages". There is a higher and lower component to the pressures...
You don`t "need" to buy a indicator to adjust headspace, just to measure the amount you have. A deep well socket from your tool kit with your caliper works to do this to, it just isn`t as ergonomic. I`d slip around a 10mm socket over the case neck of a unsized fire formed case, resting the...
1st the cartridge you are using needs to be known..... :?
Factory loads change by the day. They use what ever powder is the cheapest that meets their needs for velocity/pressure and might use a ball powder today and extruded tomorrow.
Even if they buy a 2nd boxcar load of a specific powder the...
When I had my old 20" barreled M7 my loads all seemed to run less then 100 fps behind what they did when shot from my 24" barreled M700. Powder type or bullet weight didn`t seem to matter, I don`t think you`ll find enough velocity variation to worry about. Work up a accurate load and go hunting.
Your charge appears to fall in safe territory according to your manual, and if you see no sign of pressure in your loads it probably is fine.
I wouldn`t simply switch to another bullet though without dropping back a couple grains and working back up. Just because you see no problems with the...
Try PowerPistol in your 45acp. I`ve found it to give very good velocity and being a fine flattened ball it flows like water in my measure. Another good one for velocity is VV-N340 but it is extruded.
As to the OP I 2nd the idea to dump your remaining brass and replace it with new. If they are...
What the others have said.
I think the difference in case length after trimming could be caused by heat expansion from using the drill. You get some build up due to friction though ten thousandths is a extremely small amount of difference to worry about.
All in all every thing sounds like...
