    Sons cougar

Very nice, something to be proud of for sure. Great bragging rights for a long time, too. Congradulations on a job well done.

Hunt Camp Rules - Sharing Game

+1 on what OU812 said. In our circle, with deer the shooter keeps it, but generally shares a few steaks.

    Two Rifles, Same Caliber?

I have 2 270 WSM's that will shoot the same load. I find this comforting on a deer hunt, knowing that the rifles can be interchanged and not worry about getting the right load for the right gun. But the Rem. has a shorter chamber than the Savage, which can cause problems reloading, as Savage...

    Speer Deep Curl

I used them this year in my 270 WSM (150 gr with 2975 mv.) to take a 4pt. mule deer with about 200 lb. body weight. The shot at 140 yds. was quartering away, entered just in front of the right ham and exited mid point of the far ribs. Nickel sized entry hole and 50 cent exit hole. Blood shot...

    Well....the king owns the forest....

What's wrong is knowing where BLM land is, but not being able to get there because of being surrounded by private land with no access .

    .338 accu bonds

I usually go through Graf and Sons if I can't find them locally. $41.99 / 50 however, today they show temporally out of stock.

    300 Ultra Mag Load Reduction

This sounds like the same primer issue I have on my Rem. 700 - only in 270 WSM - I took it back to the local Rem. shop for warranty and was told that a small amount of cratering on the primer is normal with the newer 700's. They have a slightly larger firing pin hole. Mine does it with any...

    chronographs

I'm happy with my ProChrono, but the remote screen on the shooting chronys is a nice option. I just used them side by side with no apparent difference in velocity readings.

    270 WSM

I have a Rem. and a Savage and the only load they will shoot well with 140 AB's is 64 gr. of RL22 this gives 3100 fps The 140 AB is my bullet of choice and so far anything I've shot with them (chucks, coyotes, blacktails, and mulies) has been a pass through and DRT

    Ground Blinds

I'm happy with mine, a Primos Ground Max / Predator, which is more of an economy model. ($150) it will set up or take down in less than a minute. I've had it two years and no signs of falling apart. The down side is the velcro windows are a little noisy to open, and the top leaks when...

    What zero do you use?

For the deer/ elk calibers I use the MPB with 1 1/2 " above/below line of sight. The varmint calibers depend on terrain and critter. From 100 yd. zero to ???????

    To make .257 weatherby brass

When I was shooting it, I would buy Remington brass in 7mm weatherby. Then it was once through the sizer die, trim and ready to go. The cases have smaller capacity and need reduced loads by a couple grains. Saved a lot of money though.

    Your special rifle/caliber?

As much as I'm still infatuated with the Rem. 700 and Savage 270 WSM's, mine would have to be the old stand-by Winchester 88 in 308 with a weaver K6 and tip off mounts. Probably have taken as many animals with this one as with all the others combined.

    Wierdest shot you ever made?

Mine was on a deer running straight away, she jumped at the time I was pulling the trigger and the bullet just caught the belly skin and opened her up like a zipper. as the entrails fell out she piled up in just a few yards.

    pelt friendly bullets

lots of good points and good ideas here. What brings this whole idea into focus is that my wife really wants a full body mounted bobcat on the wall. The way I see it, being the dutiful husband I am, I should do what I can to keep her happy. The things a person will do just to keep the...

    pelt friendly bullets

I'm thinking of getting a fur bearer license this year. The primary target will be bobcats, with an outside chance of finding a cougar. The problem I've been having is finding a pelt friendly bullet that will shoot good in my guns. What shoots good is anything but pelt friendly 22-250 likes...
