    Which bullet?

Curious question for the 35 whelen guys. Right now I'm running a 225 accubond in my whelen for elk at close range hunting, 20 to 100 yards max. What bullet would use for this hunting situation other than the 225 Accubond If any? Bill

    35 Whelen

Well I took my new to me 35 Whelen out for a test run this morning and I have to say I'm quite impressed. Should do very nicely in the mountains for elk. Speed was 2665 3 shot ave. Other 2 single shots were me getting the rifle in paper before shooting for my 3 shot group.

35 whelen guys help a bruther out

Im getting ready to buy my first 35 whelen. 24 inch Douglas barrel, McMillan Sako hunter stock, trigger set to 3 lbs, Talley rings. Comes with 225 accubonds, 225 ttsx bullets and rl15 powder. Am I set or need something else powder wise?

Young mans first big game animal

My son Mitch saw 30 head of elk on some of my wifes property last Thursday night, a day and a half prior to Cascade elk season. I have an Eastern Oregon tag but could have exchanged it for a Cascade tag. The herd consisted on 6 bulls, 4 spikes, the 5x5 and from what I'm told a huge 6x7. The...

    264 win mag

Anyone use Ramshot magnum in a 264 win mag with a 140 accubond or the like?

    first shot low

So a little back ground to go along with my question. 300 rum, 200 accubond, twice fired brass, 94 grains ramshot magnum powder, dirty fouled barrel. Shooting at 200 yards to zero my rifle from a bench with shooting rests my first shot was 4 inches low then it grouped quite nice. Went home and...

    Ramshot Magnum

I've used Ramshot magnum in the past with my 338 Lapua, 8mm mag and 338 O'Brien but never in my 300 Rum until today and I have to say I'm impressed with the accuracy. I have not got any speeds yet but will soon. All 3 shot groups were at 100 yards. Loads used were new Remington 300 rum brass...

    Why do you suppose

That Nosler load data seem to be all over the place from edition to edition? Case in point. In Nosler 6 edition a 300 rum using Nosler brass, 200 accubond and Magnum powder starting load is 94gr and max is 98gr. 94 grains shows 3070 for velocity. I don't have Nosler edition 7 so we'll skip to...

    264 300 yard zero check

A few of us went out yesterday to check the zero of a few rifles so I brought my 264 along just to be sure of my zero. There was getting to be a bit of heat mirage by the time I got to shoot so I could not see my 2 shots at 300 yards through the spotting scope. Upon arriving at the target I was...

    ? for the brake guys

I'm thinking about putting a brake on my 300 Rum for the sole purpose of being able to see impacts at long range. I do not want to have it on all the time for hunting, just put it on when needed. So my question is on ave how much shift in POI do you see between a brake being on vs being off the...

    264 140 berger bullets

Well I can say with out a doubt that the Berger bullets shoot pretty dang well. 66.5 grain of Retumbo netted an ave velocity of 3197, ES 16, SD 11. As an added bonus for me the point of impact between the 140 berger and 140 accubond is almost the exact same with the berger being slightly...

    QL request

If someone has time could you please QL a 140 berger VLD in 264 win mag, 26 inch barrel with retumbo powder? Thanks in advance.

    VLD hunting bullets?

Does anyone use the Berger VLD hunting bullets? If so, what are you thoughts on them for accuracy and game performance.

    Moa it is.

Well I tried adjusting powder and made seating depth changes but MOA is what I get with 140 accubonds and 66.0 of Retumbo, and I'm OK with that. To be honest I was hoping to see a slightly smaller group but it is what it is. It's now sighted in for 3 inches high at 100, black dots above target...

    Model 70 question

On the model 70's should the mag box free float around? This is my first model 70 and my mag box is tight and does not move. My only experience is with Weatherbys and Remingtons and the mag box floats on those rifles.

    Seating depth adjustment

I'm asking the following question because this is something I really never do. I usually pick a OAL and adjust power for accuracy but this time I want to try adjusting the seating depth. So my question is, do you guys adjust 5 or 10 thousands at a time?

    Winchester barrels

I have put 32 rounds down my 264 win mag and I am currently in the process of cleaning the barrel. I'm using my stand by copper cleaner, wipe-out, and so far I have gotten almost ZERO copper out. This barrel just does not seem to copper up, which I am thankful for but for the most part are...

    Not a bad start

Finally got everything together last night so I headed to the range this morning with the 264. I really like the Meopta 4.5-14x44 Target scope. The 66.5 load started off with 2 damn near touching and for the 3rd shot I had heat waves rising from the barrel. I should have pulled the round and...
